The BookTEK 5 Protect combines professional BookTEK scanning technology with a NuAire Class I safety workbench, creating an integrated workstation for the protected handling and digitization of potentially contaminated archival materials. Originals can be inspected, treated and digitally captured within the same protected workspace, reducing unnecessary transfers and repositioning. This allows digitization to become part of the conservation workflow while helping protect both the operator and the working environment.

Directed airflow carries released particles away from the operator and toward the filtration system. Automatic monitoring helps maintain controlled operating conditions during handling and digitization.

Hands-free scanning

Trigger scans conveniently using the foot switch, keeping both hands free for gentle handling and precise positioning of the original.

Professional BookTEK digitization

Capture detailed images at up to 600 dpi with automatic crop and deskew, laser-assisted book fold correction and proven BookTEK scan quality.

Remove the archival material from its protective packaging within the protected workspace and prepare it for treatment.

Work under protected conditions

Inspect, clean and carry out conservation work on the original under controlled conditions.

Position for scanning

Position the original directly in the integrated scanning area — without transferring it to a separate scanner.

Digitize directly

Step 4 – Digitize directly

Capture the original contact-free from above with the integrated BookTEK scanning unit. Book fold and image area are corrected automatically.

Check the result

Step 5 – Check the result

Review the preview and scan result on the external monitor and process the image directly if needed.

Document digitally

Step 6 – Document digitally

The scan result is transferred to the preset destination and is immediately available for further use.
